Dale Jarrett Wins the Brick Yard 400 - Earnhardt posts another top 10 finish Dale Jarrett dominated the BrickYard 400 at
Indianapolis. Dale Earnhardt struggled with a push in the GM Goodwrench Monte Carlo during
the first half of the race but finally the crew was able to correct the problem and Dale
ran in the top-10 for the remainder of the race. On the final restart of the race,
following a blown engine in Dave Marcis' car, Earnhardt came out sixth. However, while
leaving pit road a loose tire from Jeff Burton's car came rolling in front of Earnhardt's
car damaging the left front spoiler and fender affecting the aerodynamics and slowing
Earnhardt for the final 16 laps of the race. Earnhardt finished 10th. Steve Park
finished 15th. Earnhardt maintains seventh in the points standing. "We had a good run
at the beginning of the run, but as the run went on and on, it got tighter and tighter.
The last pit stop we hit a tire in the left front, and we just had to do anything we could
to stay in the top 10."
