Earnhardt to sport new look at
Indy

INDIANAPOLIS - When the GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet rolls off the Richard
Childress Racing transporter at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the infamous black No. 3 will
have a different look. As seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt
takes to the historical 2.5-mile speedway, the name will be the same, but the hood of the
No. 3 Chevrolet will be a replica of the GM Goodwrench Service Plus sign that appears as
it does at the local dealerships across the United States.
The GM Goodwrench Service Plus sign brings brand identity to our dealers, indicating up
front pricing and lifetime guarantees with championship service just like Earnhardt gets
from his pit crew.
"As a GM Goodwrench Service Plus dealer, I understand how good service makes a
difference to our customers," Earnhardt said. "At Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet, we
are proud to have the GM Goodwrench Service Plus sign at the entrance to our dealership
and to carry it on the hood of our race car."
"Our motorsports program with Richard Childress and Dale Earnhardt has been a long
and wonderful relationship," said Gar Smith, general sales manager/GM dealers.
"The combination of GM Goodwrench Service Plus, Richard Childress and Dale Earnhardt
is synonymous with winning performance. When you go to service your vehicle, the GM
Goodwrench Service Plus sign is right out front, just like Dale and the No. 3 Chevrolet on
race day. We are extremely excited about this hood change and hope to see Dale bring the
GM Goodwrench Service Plus Chevrolet to the winner's circle at Indianapolis Motor
Speedway."
The hood change is not a first for GM Goodwrench. When they introduced the GM Goodwrench
Service Plus program at the beginning of the 1998 season, display of the word
"Plus" across the hood was an overwhelming success for GMSPO. Earnhardt and his
crew won their first -- and very emotional -- Daytona 500, while celebrating NASCAR's 50th
anniversary carrying the Plus logo on their hood.
