Earnhardt Jr. smokes
'em in the NAPA 200 at Michigan
Dale Earnhardt Jr. led the most laps and in
the closing laps of the race no one could touch him. He finished three seconds ahead
of Winston Cup regular Jeff Gordon. Matt Kenseth, Earnhardt's closest competitor in
the Busch series, lost a cylinder late in the race and fell to a 22nd place finish.
Earnhardt now stands in the lead of the Busch Grand National Series points standing by 89

August 6, 1999 - Dale Earnhardt Jr started 3rd but struggled with a push in the car most of the
race. Finally will air pressure and some other adjustments Tony Eury, crew chief,
was able to get Earnhardt's car set so that he could stay with the leaders. Earnhardt
finished fifth maintaining a one point lead in the points battle. Jason Keller won
the race followed by Todd Bodine, Jeff Green and Matt Kenseth.

will begin at 7 a.m. in the Garage at Indianapolis Raceway Park in preparation for the
Busch Race Friday night. Then he has to be at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a mandatory
IROC Drivers meeting at 11:15 a.m. and then back to IRP (about a 20 minute drive) for

LOUIS, Mo. -- Dale Earnhardt Jr. won Saturday's Carquest Auto Parts 250 at Gateway
International Raceway to regain the points lead in the NASCAR Busch Series' Grand National
Division. Earnhardt, who got his fourth victory of the year, led in 59 of the race's 200
laps including the final 46 after passing Joe Nemechek. With the win and a $51,775 payday,
he became the sixth driver in series history to surpass $2 million in career earnings. Full Story

That's what Dale Earnhardt Jr had to say about
Todd Bodine's late race incident when he attempted a pass on Earnhardt Jr, spinning
Earnhardt into the wall. "The car was a little tight. I was trying to give
everybody room. Everybody was racin' me clean except that que-ball headed fool who
can't get by us without wreckin' us", Earnhardt said after coming out of the
ambulance. Earnhardt was running fourth at that time with 10 laps remaining in the race.
Andy Santerre won his first career Busch Series race. Matt Kenseth took over the points
lead by 24 points over Dale Earnhardt Jr.

July 4, 1999 - Dale Earnhardt Jr, often referred to a chip-off-the-block of his father, proved
it on Sunday at the Milwaukee Mile. In a Saturday morning practice session Earnhardt Jr
hit the wall when an engine blew. He was taken to the hospital where it was discovered he suffered a chipped right shoulder blade
