Earnhardt Jr. Prepares for second Cup
start at NHIS
June 17, 1999
Dale Earnhardt Jr, will be at the New Hampshire International Speedway on June 23, 1999
testing his #8 Budweiser Monte Carlo. The Busch Series point leader will be testing and
practicing for his second NASCAR Winston Cup start which will be in the Jiffy Lube 300 at
NHIS on July 11th.
Earnhardt made his first Winston Cup start last month at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in
the Coca Cola 600. The current BGN points leader started the event eighth and finished
sixteenth. He is planning a limited schedule of six Winston Cup races in 1999, opting to
save his rookie status for next year when he plans to move up to NASCAR's top division
full time.
Earnhardt Jr. has made two starts at NHIS with his Busch team. His most recent was last
May when he started his #3 AC DELCO Chevy fifth in the New Hampshire 200 and ran well
before getting caught up in a wreck in turn three. He finished the race 34th seven laps
down.
