Shake up at Hendrick's
Motorsports could benefit DEI
May 28, 1999 (Jayski's)
Dave Charpentier, one of the NASCAR tour's better known
engineers, is leaving the Rick Hendrick-Wally Dallenbach camp and is expected to land a
job quickly, either in the Dale Earnhardt camp, working with Steve Park and Dale Earnhardt
Jr., or with Richard Childress' team, working with Earnhardt(PitNow) -- more info: Dave
Charpentier, a shock specialist with the #25 Chevys driven by Wally Dallenbach, left the
garage area at Lowe's Motor Speedway Thursday morning following an argument with crew
chief Tony Furr. It was unclear whether Charpentier has quit. According to sources,
Charpentier and Furr argued Wednesday night following first-round qualifying in which
Dallenbach qualified 41st out of 52 drivers. The argument carried over to Thursday morning
after which Charpentier stormed out of the garage.
