Dale Earnhardt has more wins at Daytona events than any other driver in history but for some reason he had a 19 year jinks on the Daytona 500.  But February 15, 1998 that jinks was broken and Dale won the Daytona 500. Dale won this Daytona 500 during the 50th Anniversary of NASCAR, the 40th Anniversary of the Daytona 500 and his 20th running of the Daytona 500.  During a post race interview he took a stuffed toy monkey and threw it on the ground and said, "Now I have that monkey off my back!"

The car Dale won the Daytona 500 with was in Daytona USA, Daytona Beach Florida and was there until the 1999 Daytona 500.
