Since the inception of the NASCAR Truck Series, Ron Hornaday has shown
"Super-Human" abilities behind the wheel of his NAPA AUTO PARTS Chevrolet.
Finally, after much speculation, his secret can finally be revealed. Ron Hornaday is....
Superman!
The Superman racing theme is a year long program created by Action Performance Companies,
DC Comics, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products. Nine of racing's most celebrated champions
will drive special Superman Racing paint schemes, including Hornaday's NAPA AUTO PARTS
Chevy Silverado. The truck's vibrant paint scheme features the Superman shield and images
of the superhero.
"It's very cool to be associated with the other champions. I think this is going to
be something that the fans will enjoy all year," said Hornaday. Participating drivers
include Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmy Vasser, John Force, Joe Amato, Warren
Johnson, Matt Hines, and Steve Kinser.
The NAPA AUTO PARTS/Superman Racing special paint scheme will make its debut at the NAPA
AUTOCARE 200 at Nazareth Speedway on July 28. "Nazareth is always a special race for
NAPA and it's the same place we ran the gold truck. I really can't wait to get
there." said Hornaday.
To commemorate the promotion, DC Comics will release a limited edition custom comic book
featuring the drivers as characters in an action adventure with the "man of
steel" himself. "I read comic books as a kid," said Hornaday. "Now to
be featured in one with Superman is above and beyond my wildest childhood dreams."
Action will design a variety of limited edition die-cast replica cars and trucks, as well
as adult and children's apparel and merchandise.
