Masterful Marcis solid with IROC cars

Although Dave Marcis' Winston Cup career is fading, the vetern racer clearly has not lost his track touch. Marcis draws high praise for his work in shaking down IROC cars.

"Dave is a phenomenal guy," says IROC's Jay Signore who will oversee Friday's IROC race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

"He is a natural. A lot of people in motorsports have gained knowledge from Dave's experience in IROC."

"He is a driver's driver," says Dale Earnhardt an old pal of Marcis. "He knows how a car will react in every situation. I know when I get in an IROC car it is prepared as close to equal as possible."

Marcis' IROC job has helped finance his NASCAR racing.

"I wish I could have put it away for retirment," Marcis says of his IROC payments, "but I needed it to finanace my race team."
